CHIT CHAT No 3
Hello dear friends,
Gosh, the weather has been so hot lately! Although the hot weather does give us a chance to pull out all our summer attire. There is a lot to be said about air conditioning in our homes, how did the previous generations deal with the hot weather without it! What a lovely time to have an Iced Tea get together. I am not a huge fan of Iced Tea, but I do enjoy drinking it when the weather is extremely hot. I love that you can purchase an iced tea maker, that will do all the work. We lived in a house that a beautiful gazebo in the back garden. There was a fan inside, which helped to keep us cool. My friends and I would have our iced tea break there, surrounded by our beautiful garden. Then, the relaxing time, laying in the hammock with a really good book. I have read this book over again, what a great story, you won’t be able to put it down.

BOOK: Going Home by Valerie Wood – excerpt
For Amelia and her brothers and sisters, the grim past which their mother Emily had endured seemed very far away. As pretty as a picture, and now learning to be a teacher in York, Amelia looked forward with pleasure to becoming acquainted with the young men clamoring to get to know her, and especially the two gentlemen who had come all the way from Australia to meet her family. Ralph Hawkins, bringing with him his friend Jack – a handsome half-aboriginal Australian who was determined to make a good living for himself – arrived in Hull looking for his roots. He found Amelia, whose tangled family history was inextricably bound up with his.
Ralph Hawkins’s whole world had been turned upside down when he learned that he had been adopted by the couple he had always called his parents. In his quest to find his real mother, he uncovered some cruel and unpleasant truths, before at last realizing where his true destiny lay.
MAVIS’S VISIT
Mavis arranged a visit to her son at his new house and decided to have her hair styled beforehand. When she went to her appointment at the salon, she was told that her regular hairdresser had left but a new hairdresser, Sally, would see her for the appointment. Sally was a petite lady, and her hair was a beautiful auburn color with curls that cascaded down her back. She certainly was very pretty. After being welcomed by Sally, Mavis explained how she would like to have her hair cut and styled and told Sally that it was for a special dinner that evening. The chit chat quickly changed to other topics and Mavis was there for about an hour, when she left the salon, she was happy with her hair style.
That evening she arrived at her son’s house and was eager to see how he had decorated it and to meet his new roommate. When she entered the house, she was pleasantly surprised how charming the house looked. Her son, Ryan, was so happy to see her and gave her a big hug. “Come and meet my roommate” he said, and she followed him into the dining room. Surprise, surprise! There was Sally the hairdresser. Everyone laughed at the coincidence. Mavis commented to Ryan that he had never mentioned he had a girlfriend, especially one that lived with him. They both looked at each other and stated that they were just roommates and denied being in a relationship. But when Mavis saw how they interacted with one another, she had her doubts. At the end of the meal, coffee and chocolates were served on a silver tray. Everything seemed to go so well.
A couple of days later Ryan called Mavis for a chit chat and happened to mention that Sally had turned the house upside down looking for the silver tray as she hadn’t seen it since the dinner.” Hmm…, such a mystery” replied Mavis. “You know when you told me that you were not in relationship with Sally, is that true”, she asked? Ryan responded that Sally was just a roommate. Mavis replied, “well if that was true, she would have found the tray by now because I left it under her pillow!’
BOOM!
